Hamilton Special Awards
Given the uniqueness of the event in Hamilton, the organising committee offered four special awards to mark the occasion.
Exemplifying the spirit of Scottish Week:
Fortunate to survive the Hamilton Event with her sanity intact:
Long-suffering spouse award:
A big thank you also goes to Jane Carmichael who was ineligible for a special award as she was part of the selection committee…but who also really exemplified the spirit of Scottish week through multiple selfish contributions. Thank you Jane.
Exemplifying the spirit of Scottish Week:
- Gordon Gilchrist. Despite this being Gordon's first experience with the Scottish Week community, he instantly contributed through the wine tasting at the welcome event to being master of ceremonies for many activities. He even participated in the breaking of the Marmite de l'Escalade! Thank you Gordon.
- Jean-Philippe Ehrwein. Jean-Philippe has been a pillar of the Scottish Week events. He always has a kind word and a smile on his face. He embodies the "relationship" aspect of Scottish Week and we are grateful to have him with us every year.
Fortunate to survive the Hamilton Event with her sanity intact:
- Isabelle McCracken. Isabelle was responsible for the excursions and managed to keep calm despite the Stirling Castle tour being "closed" for safety reasons. She was able to juggle the whisky tasting and the tours successfully. In addition, when the fondue pots were not delivered on time, she contacted the Swiss Consulate and was able to convince them to lend us 9 fondue pots! A well deserved thanks to you Isabel, and a well deserved rest after we all departed.
Long-suffering spouse award:
- Martha Clarkson. While there were many spouses involved in the event, Martha's contribution from the goodie bags, pick-ups/ drop-offs, apothecary runs, last-minute dinners, changes in schedules etc really made her efforts stand out. Thanks Martha!
A big thank you also goes to Jane Carmichael who was ineligible for a special award as she was part of the selection committee…but who also really exemplified the spirit of Scottish week through multiple selfish contributions. Thank you Jane.
